Anything we should know?: I'm still getting used to different kinds of DW RP - I've had one that's extremely mod-plot-centric and one that has no game plot. I wanted to try something new, and this looked like fun.

In Character Information
Name: Rita Mordio
Series: Tales of Vesperia
Canon Standing: End of Act 1, just after recovering the aque blastia core; I'll update her later to something a little more dramatic.
Age: 15
Birthday & Astrology Sign: Can't find one. Let's go with... August 28, so she's a Virgo, unless Wikipedia is lying to me so she's a Libra. It's not like there's a real calendar in ToV anyway.
Arcana: The Chariot.

Personality:
The best way to describe Rita at a glance is loud. She's a person that is very vocal about what she knows and what she wants, and she's more than happy to tell you about it. She's a little combative and hates to compromise, and her typical attitude toward problems is "shoot first, ask questions later", possibly without getting around to the asking of questions. That said, she's well aware that there are some times that a gentler touch is required to solve a problem... and those times are the ones she lets someone else deal with the problem.

Under the surface, though, she's a little less forceful. Rita's problem is that she never really had anyone close to her growing up, so she's not really used to people. That means she either pushes everyone away (Yuri, at least at first) or latches on and won't let go (Estelle), and typically it's the former. She has a hard time being open about her feelings because she's used to being scorned, and if she's burned by interaction with someone she's not going to forget it for a long time. At the same time, if you reach out with an olive branch and make a genuine effort to understand her, Rita will be your friend until the end of time (or until you break her trust).

When Rita has a research goal, you're either helping, out of the way, or in the way. In the first case, she's going to take charge and lead the way, typically rushing headlong into danger without a care in the world. If you're out of the way, you're going to get ignored, but probably won't get hurt in the process. And if you're unlucky enough to have gotten in her way, she's going to make you wish you'd thought better about it - she's going to burn you to a crisp, or possibly test out some other new spell to turn you into a pile of dead in new and unique ways.

Oddly enough, Rita gets uncomfortable fast upon exposure to things she can't explain - violently so for applications of magic that make no sense, and more submissive in the face of the paranormal, such as ghosts and the like, which she can't stand and wants nothing to do with. She will also deny that such a reaction ever happened, possibly with physical pain as an incentive for you to do the same.

Around other people Rita doesn't know, her first instinct is sarcasm and a short temper - idiots and careless comments aren't worth her time. If she knows ahead of time she doesn't care about what you're saying, she'll be doing something else, probably working out a formula or reading a tome of some kind. If you've got something worth her time, though, she'll have guarded interest, rarely working into true concern for the subject at hand. Even if she's not outwardly paying attention, though, she's probably still listening. She's not the kind of person to let you talk for no reason; there are better things you could be doing than wasting her time.

Rita makes a genuine effort to understand and look out for her friends, considering how hard it is for her to make that bond. She knows that a lot rides on her reaching out, and she does her best to care about her friends' problems, and help with them if she's got a way. Of course, she'll have to suppress her immediate urge to blast the problem into cinders, but once that's done she's going to try to find a solution. Rita's answers to problems, however, are likely to be academic and thought-out, unless resorting to violence is actually a valid answer.

She's a little awkward around people she can call friends, though; she doesn't know how much she should or shouldn't share, which leads to her mouth running far too often, and to her saying things she doesn't mean or didn't really want to say, after which she feels even more awkward while she tries to patch things up. She also really hates her insecurities being brought up, but if it's someone she's close enough to, she'll tolerate it.

Backstory:
Rita's character history can be found here, and game plot is here; I'm taking her quite early by that reckoning.

Canon Powers:
Rita's full skillset is here, but that's rather long, and she won't have access to everything right away. That said, everything should classify handily into normal Persona elements. At this canon point, she'd have all her Novice spells, Splash, and Stalagmite, and a few strike artes that are all physical-element that she'll never use.

Canon Weapons|Items:
Rita has a scarf and a large tome on spontaneous human combustion. Neither is elemental beyond strike damage, and both are fairly weak, though application of aer - or rather mana - makes the scarf get markedly longer and lets her control it somewhat.

Canon Baggage:
Rita wouldn't really be carrying anything unusual for a character going adventuring in a Tales game - some gels, a life bottle or three, magic lenses, that sort of thing. She is carrying exactly one camping set, packed up to be fairly small. There are a few extra changes of clothes, and her general personal needs. A notebook of spell research. And, of course, she's wearing her bodhi blastia, the gold choker around her neck that makes her not totally helpless.

Ultimate Persona ideas: I'm thinking I'll take the summon spirit Undine from ToV as Rita's ultimate Persona when it gets closer to that time; it's something she makes herself, effectively, and it's something she takes a lot of pride in, and that she depends on.

Writing Sample
I presently play Rita at Drama Drama Duck, where her canon point is about the same as where I'll bring her into Destiny Strings; I made this post with her there about a week ago, and I'm still working on tags. I think that works...? If not, I've got samples in her app for DDD that I'm willing to re-submit.
